Satyam Dixit’s Green Mission: From Selling Momos to Leading a Nature Conservation Drive
World Nature Conservation Day highlights Satyam Dixit’s inspiring journey from personal struggles to leading an environmental movement focused on cleanliness, waste management and awareness across more than 200 cities.
Satyam Dixit’s story is one of perseverance and commitment. Coming from a modest background, he faced financial hardships from an early age. His father was a rickshaw driver who later worked as a watchman. Due to his father’s financial struggles, Satyam spent his childhood in a rented house and had to contribute to family responsibilities at a young age.
While attending school, Satyam Singh started selling momos during his free time to support his family. Later, during his college years, he worked as a delivery boy. These early struggles shaped his personality and developed a sense of dedication and service towards society.
During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Satyam’s life took a new direction. He was planning to prepare for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, but during the crisis, he decided to focus on helping people. While working to support communities and individuals, he developed the idea of contributing towards environmental conservation.
Following this, Satyam began planning and working on initiatives related to cleanliness, waste management, and spreading environmental awareness among people. Today, his initiative has become part of a nationwide movement, with work being carried out in more than 200 cities across the country.
As part of this campaign, regular cleanliness drives are organised across cities at public places and along riverbanks, where waste is collected and removed. However, the initiative is not limited to just cleaning waste. It also encourages people to adopt responsible practices such as recycling, proper disposal of plastic waste, and effective management of religious waste.
Along with cleanliness drives, the larger objective of the initiative is to bring a change in people’s mindset, encouraging citizens to take responsibility for their surroundings instead of leaving environmental duties to others.
Satyam Dixit’s journey, from facing personal struggles to working towards environmental protection, has become a part of efforts aimed at creating awareness and encouraging responsible behaviour for a cleaner and greener environment.
